Friday, October 19, 2007 Shop Talk Gahanna Getting More Golf Options Business First of Columbus - by Doug Buchanan Business First Click here for link to original Article A brownfield redevelopment project in Gahanna has moved into the construction stage with word that Tartan Golf & Management Co. plans to build two nine-hole golf courses. The trick is the two will not constitute a standard 18-hole course. Tartan plans to build a nine-hole, par 27 course as well as a nine-hole short course with holes just 20 to 30 yards from tee to green. The Tartan Golf Academy of Central Park complex also will have a putting course (sorry, no windmills or swinging gates), a clubhouse and driving range. "We hope to have the opportunity to do this at other sites. That's the goal here," said Tartan President Steve Renaker, who would not disclose the cost of the project. The start of construction on the courses follows the clean-up of the former Bedford landfill and assembling of neighboring properties by the nonprofit Central Ohio Community Improvement Corp. With the remediation of the site completed, the county-sponsored agency on Oct. 18 turned over the 190 acres for the next stage of redevelopment to an affiliate of Value Recovery Group LLC, a Columbus asset management company that has served as a redevelopment consultant to the Central Ohio CIC the last two years.
